A Pap Smear is a screening procedure for cervical cancer, i.e. testing for the presence of precancerous or cancerous cells on your cervix.
Pap smears can be a bit uncomfortable, but the test is very quick. During the procedure, the patient will lie on her back on an examination table with her legs spread and feet resting in supports called stirrups.
